Product Description

The Newport P9000 is Dickinson's compact direct-vent propane fireplace for boats. It gives a cabin 3,200 to 4,500 BTU of quiet, adjustable heat with a real flame behind ceramic glass, and the sealed combustion system keeps exhaust and moisture out of the boat. Marine use only. Dickinson approves the Newport P9000 to ABYC standards for installation on boats. It is not approved for homes, cabins or RVs — for those, see the Newport Explorer.

Key Features

  • 3,200–4,500 BTU variable output – turn it down for a mild night or up for a cold one (Dickinson rating)
  • Direct vent – sealed combustion draws air from outside and exhausts outside; Dickinson states there is no risk of interior oxygen depletion
  • Built-in blower – moves warm air into the space faster
  • Real flame view – large ceramic glass window with a safety screen
  • Steady in motion and wind – Dickinson rates the burner as unaffected by boat motion or wind
  • 304 stainless steel – stainless burner and body
  • Chimney included – stainless backing plate, 28 in of flexible double stainless chimney and a deck fitting cap come in the box

Installation

The heater mounts to a wall on its stainless backing plate, and the included flexible double chimney runs to the deck fitting cap. You will need a propane hose, an 11-inch water column regulator and fittings to connect your propane supply; these are sold separately. Dickinson's installation and operating manual covers clearances and chimney routing, and we recommend a qualified gas or marine technician for the connection. This model is approved for marine installation only.

Frequently Asked Questions

What else do I need to install it?

A propane hose, an 11-inch WC low-pressure regulator and fittings. The chimney, deck cap and backing plate are included. Call us at (302) 496-3554 if you'd like help matching parts.

How long will a tank last?

Dickinson rates it at about 140 hours on low and 100 hours on high from a 20 lb tank.

Does it use the air in the room?

No. It is a direct-vent heater: combustion air comes from outside and the exhaust goes outside through the chimney. Dickinson states there is no risk of interior oxygen depletion.

Can I put it in my cabin or RV?

No. The P9000 is approved for marine use only. The Newport Explorer is Dickinson's propane fireplace approved for homes, RVs and boats.

P9000 or P12000?

The P9000 is the smaller unit at 3,200–4,500 BTU. The P12000 is physically larger and puts out 4,000–5,500 BTU for a bigger cabin.
