Off-Grid by Design

The 6000XP is an off-grid inverter: it does not export power to the utility grid or participate in net metering. Practically, that means no utility interconnection agreement is required for the inverter's grid-export function — the AC input is used only to charge batteries and pass power through to your loads from a generator or the grid. Solar you produce is used to charge batteries and run loads; excess production beyond that is curtailed rather than sold back. If selling power to your utility matters to you, consider a hybrid model such as the EG4 FlexBOSS18 or 18kPV. Note that connecting any inverter to premises wiring still involves local permitting and code compliance.

Battery Compatibility

The 6000XP is designed for 48V battery banks and supports closed-loop communications with EG4 batteries, so state of charge comes from the battery's BMS rather than voltage estimates. The EG4 WallMount 280Ah all-weather battery (14.3 kWh) and the EG4 WallMount 314Ah all-weather battery (16 kWh) are natural pairings; both are 48V wall-mounted LiFePO4 units. Lead-acid banks are also supported within the published voltage range.

Installation

The 6000XP is wall-mounted and rated IP20, so it belongs indoors or in a protected, dry space. Tying its 120/240V output into a load panel — grounding, bonding, overcurrent protection, and code compliance — should be performed by a licensed electrician, and most jurisdictions require a permit for this work even off-grid. Does it need solar panels to work?

No. It runs as an inverter/charger from the battery bank alone and can charge from the AC input (generator or grid) when available. Panels are sold separately.

Can it sell power back to the grid?

No. The 6000XP is off-grid by design and does not export to the utility. See the EG4 hybrid models if grid export — subject to utility approval — is a goal.

Will it start a well pump?
