Product Description

The Airpura V600 is a VOC and chemical abatement air purifier built around an 18 lb activated carbon bed paired with a 40 sq ft True HEPA filter. Per Airpura, it moves 560 CFM of air (free flow) and is rated for spaces up to 2,000 sq ft, which makes it a practical single-unit answer for homes dealing with chemical odors, off-gassing, or seasonal wildfire smoke.

Who It's For

  • Households in wildfire-prone regions that want carbon and HEPA filtration ready before smoke season
  • Homes with noticeable VOC sources — fresh paint, new furniture or flooring, adhesives, or an attached garage
  • Buyers who want gas-phase and particle filtration in one 115V unit
  • Rooms and open-plan areas up to 2,000 sq ft, based on Airpura's rating at 8 ft ceilings and 2 air changes per hour

Key Features

  • 18 lb activated carbon bed — Airpura's enhanced blend (coconut shell carbon with potassium iodide) in a 2 in. deep bed with 570 sq in of surface area, designed to adsorb VOCs, chemical fumes, and smoke odors
  • 40 sq ft True HEPA filter — captures 99.97% of airborne particles at 0.3 microns per Airpura; a Super HEPA (99.99%) upgrade is available
  • 560 CFM free-flow airflow with 360-degree intake and top-exit air distribution
  • Vacuumable poly prefilter that extends the life of the carbon and HEPA stages
  • Variable-speed fan to balance airflow against sound
  • Powder-coated steel housing on casters — a metal cabinet that rolls easily between rooms
  • Filtration only — no ozone-producing technology; per Airpura, zero ozone emissions

How the Filtration Works

Air is drawn in 360 degrees around the base of the unit and passes through three stages:

  1. Poly prefilter traps dust, lint, and hair so the deeper filters stay effective longer. Vacuum it in place between replacements.
  2. 18 lb activated carbon bed adsorbs gaseous pollutants — VOCs from paints and finishes, chemical fumes, and the odor compounds in wildfire and wood smoke.
  3. True HEPA filter captures fine particles such as smoke particulate, dust, and dander at 99.97% efficiency for particles 0.3 microns and larger, per Airpura.

Filtered air exits through the top of the unit, circulating the room without stirring up dust at floor level.

V600 vs V614 vs V700 vs V714

All four V-series models share the same 18 lb enhanced carbon bed; they differ in airflow and HEPA grade:

  • V600 (this model) — 560 CFM, rated 2,000 sq ft, True HEPA (99.97%)
  • Airpura V614 — 560 CFM, rated 2,000 sq ft, Super HEPA (99.99%) standard
  • Airpura V700 — 635 CFM, rated 2,500 sq ft, True HEPA (99.97%)
  • Airpura V714 — 635 CFM, rated 2,500 sq ft, Super HEPA (99.99%) standard

If gas and odor capacity matters more to you than fine-particle capture, look at the 26 lb carbon bed in the Airpura C600. Still deciding? See Which Airpura Is Right for You or browse the full Airpura collection.

Filter Replacements

Per Airpura, replace the poly prefilter about every 12 months, the carbon bed about every 24 months, and the True HEPA every 3 to 5 years — sooner under heavy smoke or chemical load. The V600/V614 replacement filter bundle covers the full filter stack in one order, and the poly prefilter pack (600/700 series) keeps spares on hand.

Warranty & Support

Airpura backs the V600 with a 5-year parts and 10-year labor warranty for residential use, per Airpura's published terms. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for wildfire season with the V600?

Have the unit and a spare set of filters in place before smoke season starts. During smoke events, keep windows and doors closed and run the V600 continuously in the room where you spend the most time. Per Airpura, the carbon bed adsorbs smoke odors and VOCs while the True HEPA captures fine smoke particles. Check the prefilter more often during heavy smoke and vacuum it as needed.

How can I tell when the carbon bed is saturated?

The clearest sign is breakthrough odor: smells the unit used to remove start coming through again, or the outlet air picks up a faint odor of what the carbon has collected. Airpura's replacement guideline is about 24 months in typical use; sustained smoke or VOC exposure shortens that.

What are common VOC sources in a home?

Fresh paint and finishes, new furniture, carpet, and flooring, adhesives and caulk, cleaning products, air fresheners, dry-cleaned clothing, and fuels or solvents stored in attached garages all release VOCs indoors. Activated carbon is the filter media designed to adsorb these gases — a HEPA filter alone does not capture them.

What does the V600 cost to run? (estimate)

Airpura's published 600-series performance data lists roughly 40 watts on low and 120 watts on high. At a US average electricity rate of about $0.17 per kWh, running 24/7 works out to approximately $0.16 per day on low and $0.49 per day on high. This is an estimate — your local rate and fan speed will change the math.

What is the difference between True HEPA and Super HEPA?

The V600's standard True HEPA captures 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns, per Airpura. The Super HEPA fitted to the V614 — and available as a V600 upgrade — is rated 99.99% at 0.3 microns.

Does the V600 produce ozone?

No. The V600 relies on mechanical and adsorption filtration only — prefilter, carbon, and HEPA — and per Airpura it emits no ozone.
