Product Description

The Airpura R714 is the upgraded version of Airpura's everyday purifier: the same 635 CFM 700-series chassis and 18 lb activated carbon bed as the R700, with the particle stage stepped up to a Super HEPA 14 filter rated by Airpura to capture 99.99% of airborne particles 0.3 microns and larger. Airpura rates the unit for spaces up to 2,500 sq ft, and the powder-coated steel housing draws air through a 360° intake and rolls on casters.

Who the R714 Is For

Choose the R714 if you want a single all-around unit — particles plus odors, VOCs, and chemical vapors — and prefer the tighter 99.99% Super HEPA filter over the standard 99.97% True HEPA. It fits large open living areas, homes with pets, and buyers who would rather have the higher filter grade from day one than upgrade at replacement time. If the standard grade is enough, the R700 is otherwise the same machine. If gases and odors are not a concern, the HEPA-focused I700 trades the carbon bed for more than double the HEPA media. Key Features

  • Super HEPA 14 filter (40 sq ft of media) captures 99.99% of airborne particles 0.3 microns and larger, per Airpura
  • 18 lb of 100% coconut-shell activated carbon adsorbs odors, VOCs, and chemical vapors
  • 635 CFM free-flow airflow with variable fan speed control
  • Rated by Airpura for spaces up to 2,500 sq ft (8 ft ceilings, two air changes per hour)
  • Powder-coated steel housing with 360° air intake and caster wheels
  • 115V household power; 40 W on low, 120 W on high
  • No ozone-producing technology — Airpura lists ozone emissions as none

How the Filtration Works

Stage 1 — Poly prefilter. Catches larger dust, lint, and pet hair at the intake; vacuum it through the grill between annual replacements.

Stage 2 — Activated carbon. Air passes through an 18 lb bed of coconut-shell activated carbon, which adsorbs odor, VOC, and gas molecules that particle filters cannot capture. Airpura also offers an 18 lb anthracite carbon blend as an alternative.

Stage 3 — Super HEPA 14. The 40 sq ft pleated Super HEPA filter captures 99.99% of airborne particles 0.3 microns and larger — dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke particles, and mold spores among them — before clean air returns to the room through the 360° outlet.

R700 vs R714 vs I700

All three share the 635 CFM 700-series chassis and 2,500 sq ft rating; the difference is the filter set. The R700 pairs a True HEPA filter (99.97%) with the 18 lb carbon bed. The R714 (this model) keeps the carbon bed and upgrades to Super HEPA 14 at 99.99%. The I700 takes the opposite path — it drops the bulk carbon bed and fills the chassis with over 100 sq ft of True HEPA media, with only an optional carbon weave for light odors. Filter Replacements

The R-series replacement filter bundle covers the carbon and HEPA stages in one order, and the poly prefilter pack (600/700 series) keeps stage one fresh in between. Airpura's intervals: prefilter about 12 months, carbon about 24 months, Super HEPA every 3–5 years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the R714 produce ozone?

No. The R714 uses only mechanical filtration — prefilter, carbon, and Super HEPA — with no UV lamp, ionizer, or other emitting technology, and Airpura lists its ozone emissions as none.

What is the difference between the R714 and the R700?

Only the particle filter. The R714 ships with a Super HEPA 14 rated 99.99% at 0.3 microns; the R700 uses a True HEPA rated 99.97%. Chassis, airflow, and the 18 lb carbon bed are identical.

What does it cost to run 24/7?

Example math: on high the R714 draws 120 W, so 24 hours uses about 2.9 kWh. At $0.17 per kWh that is roughly $0.49 per day, or about $15 per month. On low (40 W) it is about $0.16 per day. Your local rate will change these figures.

How loud is it at night?

Airpura publishes 30.2 dB on low at 6 ft for this chassis, rising to 63.0 dB on high at the full 635 CFM. The variable speed control lets you pick a quieter setting for overnight running.

How often do the filters need replacing?

Per Airpura: vacuum the prefilter regularly and replace it about every 12 months, replace the carbon bed about every 24 months, and the Super HEPA filter every 3–5 years.

Does it run on US household power?

Yes. The R714 runs on standard 115V outlets — no special wiring needed.
