How the Filtration Works

Air is drawn in 360 degrees around the base and passes through three stages:

  1. Poly prefilter catches dust, lint, and hair before they can blind the carbon bed.
  2. 26 lb coconut shell carbon bed does the main work: gases, VOCs, and odor compounds adsorb onto the carbon as air moves through the 3 in. deep bed.

What is the C600 designed to do that a HEPA purifier is not?

Gases and odors pass straight through HEPA media — they are far smaller than the particles HEPA is built to capture. The C600's 26 lb carbon bed adsorbs gas-phase pollutants: VOCs, chemical fumes, and odors. Its HEPA-barrier stage handles larger particles (95% at 1 micron per Airpura) but is secondary to the carbon.

How do I know when 26 lb of carbon is saturated?

Watch for breakthrough: odors the unit had been removing start returning, or the outlet air develops a faint smell of the contaminants collected.
