Product Description

At 53" wide and holding up to 4,000 cigars, the Reagan is built for collections that have become an inventory. Two independently controlled climate zones sit behind tinted glass doors, twelve sliding shelves divide the space, and the dark cherry cabinetry with embossed panels and crown molding is finished to stand on a lounge floor rather than in a stockroom.

Who it suits

Cigar shops, lounges and collectors with several thousand cigars and more than one storage strategy. The zones earn their place when part of the collection is being aged and part is in rotation, or when display stock and reserve stock need different treatment. If everything you own can live at one setting, the single-zone Remingtons do that in less floor space. If the room cannot take 53" of width, consider the narrower Reagan Lite.

Climate control

Each zone adjusts independently across 41°F–71°F and 56%–78% RH. The window most collectors aim for, around 65–70°F and 65–70% RH, sits mid-range on both scales, leaving headroom rather than asking the system to hold a setpoint at its own limit.

Independent zones change how you manage a collection. Long-term stock is typically held slightly cooler and drier, which slows and evens out maturation; cigars for the next few weeks are kept nearer 70% RH so they draw and burn properly straight from the cabinet. Two zones also give you somewhere to put a problem — a consignment that arrived over-humidified, a box you would rather quarantine — without moving everything else.

  • Dual-zone adjustable temperature: 41°F–71°F, and humidity: 56%–78% RH.
  • Built-in cooling and heating system, so each zone adds or removes heat as the room demands.
  • Dual water reservoirs with auxiliary fans. Separate reservoirs make the zones genuinely independent, and the fans keep humidity even across the height of a 74.5" cabinet rather than letting damp air settle at the bottom.
  • De-mist feature, for the fogging that follows warm room air meeting cooler interior glass.
  • Touchscreen digital control panel with saved settings, so both zone targets survive a power interruption.

Capacity in the real world

Four thousand cigars is the loose-single figure for the whole cabinet, roughly half to each zone. Like every rating of this type it assumes cigars packed in rows with no wasted volume, and should be treated as the ceiling.

What lowers it is packaging. Boxes bring their own walls, lid clearance and gaps at the ends of rows, and heavy cabinet-style boxes are particularly wasteful of volume. A mostly boxed collection comes in well under the rating; bundles and loose cabinet-selection sticks pack close to it. Plan against the pessimistic figure.

Twelve shelves, six per side, make that manageable. The top three on each side are angled so cigars present face-on, which a retail floor wants and which costs a little depth. The flat shelves below take boxes without fuss, and the two divided trays suit singles in rotation, one per zone.

Build and finish

Dark cherry throughout, with embossed side panels and crown molding accents. The trays and shelves are cedar-lined — the surfaces cigars actually rest on. Spanish cedar takes up and gives back moisture without warping, contributes the aroma cigars acquire over months of storage, and repels tobacco beetles. It arrives dry, which is why a new cabinet must be seasoned first.

The cabinet uses tempered tinted glass doors with a heavy-duty seal. The tint cuts the light reaching the cigars, a real benefit for anything stored long-term. The seals are the working components in the climate system: if the unit starts cycling more than it used to, check them and the levelling before suspecting the electronics. White LED lighting runs across all twelve shelves and adds almost no heat load.

The specification supplied for this model lists no lock and no UV rating for the tinted glass. On a cabinet likely to sit in a public-facing lounge or shop, a lock is worth confirming with the manufacturer's documentation rather than assuming.

Setting it up

The guidance below is general best practice for a cedar-lined electric cabinet. The manufacturer's manual governs, and should be read before the cabinet is first powered.

  • Season both zones before loading. Dry cedar takes moisture from cigars rather than giving it. Run the cabinet empty with both reservoirs filled until each zone holds a stable reading on its own — several days is normal for a cabinet this large. Season the second zone even if you are only filling the first.
  • Distilled water in both reservoirs. Distilled or reverse-osmosis water at seasoning and every refill. Tap water leaves mineral deposits that clog the system and can introduce mould. Two reservoirs means two levels to check.
  • Placement. Interior wall, out of direct sunlight, away from radiators and registers. Leave clearance so the cooling system exhausts into open air rather than back into itself. Level it patiently — across 53" of width, small errors at the feet turn into doors that never sit properly against their seals.
  • Power. No voltage is stated in the specification supplied for this model. Confirm the requirement on the rating plate and in the manual before positioning the cabinet relative to an outlet.
  • Load in stages. Reach the target in both zones and let them hold before cigars go in, then load gradually. A cabinet asked to rehydrate 4,000 cigars at once will read low for days.

Delivery

The Reagan ships crated on a pallet by LTL freight. Delivery is normally kerbside — the carrier brings it to the property line, not into the room — so arrange people, equipment and a route in advance.

Width is the constraint that catches people out. Measure 53" against every doorway, corridor turn and stair landing between the kerb and the final position, and allow for the crate being larger than the cabinet on all three dimensions. Inspect the crate before you sign the receipt, and note any damage on the carrier's paperwork.

Common questions

What is the practical use of two zones?

Holding two setpoints at once. Ageing stock is commonly kept cooler and drier for slow, even maturation, while cigars for the coming weeks sit nearer 70% RH so they smoke properly straight from the cabinet. Nothing obliges you to split them — plenty of owners run one uniform climate and treat the zones as organisational halves.

How does it differ from the Reagan Lite?

Finish and footprint. Both hold 4,000 cigars with dual-zone control, twelve shelves, two divided trays and identical climate ranges. This one is dark cherry at 53" W x 26" D x 74.5" H; the Lite is black oak and narrower at 50" W x 24" D x 72" H, which can decide it if the doorway is tight.

Should I buy this instead of two smaller cabinets?

Two separate cabinets also give two climates and are easier to move and site, but this gives you one power position, one piece of furniture and one control panel. If width is scarce and you have two rooms, two smaller units may suit better.

Will it hold up in a shop with the doors opened constantly?

That is the environment it is designed for, and the auxiliary fans and de-mist feature exist partly because of it. Frequent opening means more work for the humidification system and more frequent top-ups, so check water levels more often in a retail setting than at home.

Does it need plumbing?

No. Both reservoirs are hand-filled, and there is no drain or supply connection — the cabinet needs a power outlet, level floor and exhaust clearance, nothing else from the building. It is covered by Prestige Import Group's manufacturer warranty; see the warranty tab for terms.
