The Reagan Lite is where storage stops being one problem and becomes two. It is a 50"-wide dual-zone electric humidor holding up to 4,000 cigars across twelve sliding shelves, each side running its own temperature and humidity. A collector can age long-term stock on one side and keep ready-to-smoke cigars on the other, at different settings, in one cabinet. The black oak finish keeps it sober enough for a lounge floor, a shop, or a home collection.

Who it suits

This is a cabinet for collections measured in thousands, and for collectors who have stopped treating every cigar the same way. Lounges and tobacconists get the second use: retail stock at display humidity on one side, reserve stock at another. If one setpoint covers everything you own, this is more cabinet than the collection justifies and the 2,000-cigar Remington will serve better.

Climate control

Both zones adjust across the same envelope: 41°F to 71°F for temperature, 56% to 78% RH for humidity. Most collectors target roughly 65–70°F and 65–70% RH, which sits mid-range, so neither zone works at the edge of its capability to reach a normal setpoint.

What two zones buy you is separation of purpose. Cigars destined for long ageing are commonly held a little cooler and drier than cigars you intend to smoke this month: slow, even maturation on one side, cigars that draw properly straight out of the cabinet on the other. It also lets you quarantine a new arrival, or bring an over-humidified batch back down at a lower setting, without dragging the rest of the collection with it.

Capacity in the real world

Four thousand cigars is the loose-single count across both zones, roughly half per side. Like every rating of this kind it assumes cigars laid in rows with nothing wasted: a ceiling rather than a forecast.

Boxes are where the number goes. Packaging brings walls, lid clearance and dead space at the ends of rows, and a slide-lid cabinet box eats far more room than the cigars inside it. A boxed collection sits well below the rating; bundles and loose sticks come much closer.

Twelve shelves give real organisational freedom — six per side, the top three angled for display and the three beneath flat. Angled shelves show cigars face-on and give back a little depth; the flat shelves take boxes properly. Keep the two divided trays for current rotation, one per zone.

Build and finish

The cabinet is black oak, with embossed side panels and crown molding accents. Cedar lines the trays and shelves — the surfaces cigars actually rest on. Spanish cedar buffers moisture without warping, gives cigars the aroma they pick up over months of storage, and deters tobacco beetles. It arrives dry, which is why seasoning is not optional on a new cabinet.

The door is tempered tinted glass with a heavy-duty seal. The tint does more than style: less light reaching the cigars is better for them. The seal is what actually holds your climate — check it and the levelling first if the cabinet starts running harder than it used to. White LED lighting covers all shelves, chosen because LED adds almost no heat to a compartment being actively cooled. Shelves ride on slides.

The specification supplied for this model lists a single tinted glass door on a 50"-wide cabinet, and states no lock or UV rating for the glass. If the door configuration or a lock matters to your installation, confirm it against the manufacturer's documentation before ordering.

Setting it up

This is general best practice for a cedar-lined electric cabinet. The manufacturer's manual is the authority and should be read before the cabinet is powered up.

• Season both zones. New cedar is dry and pulls moisture out of the first cigars it meets. Run the cabinet empty with both reservoirs filled until each side holds a steady reading unaided — several days of stabilising. Season both sides even if you will only fill one at first.
• Distilled water only. Distilled or reverse-osmosis water in both reservoirs, at seasoning and every refill. Tap water deposits minerals that foul the system and can introduce mould.
• Placement. Interior wall, out of direct sunlight, clear of radiators and vents. Leave clearance for the cooling system to exhaust rather than recirculate. At 50" wide the cabinet needs a genuinely flat run of floor, because a wide carcass standing out of true will not pull the door square against its seal.
• Power. The specification supplied for this model does not state a voltage. Confirm the requirement on the rating plate and in the manual before committing to an outlet position.
• Load gradually. Let both zones reach and hold their targets first, then load in stages. Filling a 4,000-cigar cabinet in one afternoon drops humidity in both zones and the system spends days recovering.

Delivery

The Reagan Lite ships crated on a pallet by LTL freight; nothing this size moves by parcel carrier. Delivery is normally kerbside, so the carrier's obligation typically ends at the property line. Arrange help and clear the route before the truck is scheduled.

Measure carefully, because 50" of width is where cabinets fail to get into rooms. Check it against every doorway, hallway turn and stair landing on the route, and remember the crate is larger than the cabinet on all three axes — the unit itself is 50" W x 24" D x 72" H. Inspect the crate before signing, and record any damage on the carrier's paperwork.

Common questions

What would I actually set the two zones to?

A common approach is a slightly cooler, drier side for long-term ageing and a side nearer 70% RH for cigars you plan to smoke soon. Both zones work within 41°F–71°F and 56%–78% RH. Change settings in small increments and let each side settle for a few days.

Do the zones share air?

They are independent climate zones with separate reservoirs and their own fans, which is what allows different setpoints to hold. Treat them as separate compartments when planning, and check the manual on how the divider is described before assuming complete aroma isolation between strong and mild cigars.

How does this compare with the standard Reagan?

Capacity, dual-zone control, shelf count and climate ranges are the same on both. The differences are finish and footprint: this is black oak at 50" W x 24" D x 72" H, the standard Reagan dark cherry and larger at 53" W x 26" D x 74.5" H.

Can I run one zone empty?

Yes, and it is a normal way to grow into the cabinet. Keep the unused zone seasoned and powered rather than letting the cedar dry out — restarting a dry zone means seasoning it again before it can hold stock.

Does it need plumbing or a drain?
