What Will It Run?
Renogy's published estimate is 2,000 to 2,500Wh per day at 5 to 6 peak sun hours. Our more conservative planning figure for northern or winter sun: 400W x 4 h x 0.75 = roughly 1,200Wh per day. On storage, a conservative 80% usable assumption gives about 1,900Wh per full cycle from the bank.

A realistic cabin day: LED lights (75Wh) + 12V fridge (about 1,100Wh) + phone/laptop charging (200Wh) + water pump (100Wh) = roughly 1,475Wh; sustainable in decent sun, and the bank covers a dark day on its own.

Inverter loads: a 900W microwave for 10 minutes uses about 150Wh; a 1,500W space heater, by contrast, would flatten the whole bank in under 90 minutes, so heat with propane or wood, not electricity, at this system size.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add panels later?
One more 100W panel fits: the Rover Li 40A accepts up to 520W of PV at 12V per Renogy, and the kit ships with 400W. Past that you would move to a larger controller.
Can I add more batteries later?
Yes. Per Renogy, these smart lithium batteries support expansion in parallel and series (up to a 4P4S arrangement). Use the same model and similar age when paralleling. If you already know you need much more storage, it can be simpler to build around one larger battery such as the Core 12V 300Ah self-heating LiFePO4 from the start.
What does self-heating actually do?
LiFePO4 cells should not be charged below freezing. Per Renogy, these batteries warm themselves when temperatures drop so charging can continue, which is the difference between a system that works in January and one that waits for spring.
Roof or ground mount?
Included Z-brackets handle flat roof mounting on an RV, shed, or cabin. Ground mounting with a tilt rack (not included) earns back meaningful harvest in winter at this array size.
Can this combine with my RV's alternator?
Yes, add a separate DC-DC charger between the starter battery and this bank; the Rover controller covers solar only. Call us to size one for your alternator.
How is this different from the AGM version of the kit?
Same panels, controller, and inverter. This version's batteries are 37 lb lighter each, usable to a much deeper discharge, self-heating, and Bluetooth-monitored, per Renogy; the AGM version costs less upfront and includes a shunt-type battery monitor instead.
Is everything here, or will I need parts from the hardware store?
