Renogy 400W 12V off-grid solar kit with two 100Ah lithium batteries

Product Description

This Renogy 400W 12V Off-Grid Kit bundles a two-panel, 400-watt array and a Rover Li 40A MPPT charge controller with two 12V 100Ah lithium iron phosphate batteries, about 2,400Wh of nominal storage. It covers the generation and storage side of a small off-grid system in one order, with components matched by Renogy.

Who This Kit Is For

This kit suits a shed, small cabin, camper, or trailer where the daily loads are modest and known: lights, a fridge or freezer, device charging, a fan or small pump. Because storage (2 x 100Ah LiFePO4) is generous relative to the 400W array, it is a good shape for weekend places, where the batteries bank several sunny weekdays of charge for a busy weekend. It is not a whole-home system, and if you plan to run 120V AC appliances you will need to add a pure sine wave inverter sized to those loads.

Key Features

  • 400W array: two 200W 16BB N-Type panels with 20.7% module efficiency, per Renogy
  • Panels carry a 10-year material and workmanship warranty and 25-year power output warranty, per Renogy's datasheet
  • Rover Li 40A MPPT charge controller with lithium support; max PV input 520W at 12V and 1,040W at 24V, per Renogy
  • Two 12V 100Ah lithium iron phosphate batteries, roughly 2,400Wh of nominal storage combined
  • LiFePO4 chemistry cycles daily for years and holds voltage under load far better than lead-acid
  • Controller auto-detects 12V/24V systems and supports AGM, gel, flooded, lithium, and user profiles, per Renogy

Why Renogy

Renogy has built off-grid solar equipment since 2010 and publishes the datasheets, manuals, and app tools that make a self-install manageable. Its kits pair panels, controller, and batteries that are rated to work together, which is most of the design work in a small system.

What's In the Box

  • 200W 16BB N-Type solar panel x 2
  • Rover Li 40A MPPT charge controller x 1
  • 12V 100Ah lithium iron phosphate battery x 2
  • Renogy's matching wiring, mounting, and fusing accessory pack for this kit configuration

Renogy configures this bundle under its off-grid kit program, and accessory pack contents are specified by Renogy per production run. If you need the exact cable-by-cable packing list before ordering, call us at (302) 496-3554 and we will confirm it against the cartons in stock.

What Will It Run?

Using conservative assumptions (4 peak sun hours, 25% derate for temperature, wiring, and angle):

  • Daily harvest: 400W x 4 h x 0.75 = roughly 1,200Wh per day.
  • Example daily budget: LED lighting (60Wh) + chest freezer or 12V fridge (about 900Wh) + phone/laptop charging (150Wh) = roughly 1,110Wh; sustainable indefinitely in decent sun.
  • Storage buffer: with about 2,400Wh nominal on hand and a conservative 80% usable figure (about 1,900Wh), the bank alone carries the example loads for roughly a day and a half of dark weather; the array recharges it over the following sunny days.
  • Weekend-cabin math: five quiet weekdays of charging can bank far more than a two-day weekend of the loads above uses, which is why this storage-heavy shape works for part-time places.

Estimates only, with assumptions stated. Winter sun-hours in the northern US can be half these figures.

Warranty & Support

Per Renogy: 10-year material and workmanship plus 25-year power output warranty on the panels (datasheet), 3-year material and workmanship warranty on the Rover Li 40A controller, and coverage on the lithium batteries under Renogy's published prorated battery warranty terms. OffGrid Horizon is family-owned and an authorized Renogy dealer; we handle any claim with Renogy for you. Call (302) 496-3554.

Shipping

Ships within the United States. Panels and batteries ship in separate cartons and often arrive on different days; lithium batteries ship under standard hazmat-compliant ground methods. Inspect cartons on delivery and call us at (302) 496-3554 with any questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add panels later?

Yes, modestly. The Rover Li 40A accepts up to 520W of PV on a 12V system per Renogy, so this 400W array leaves about 120W of headroom, room for one more 100W panel. Reconfiguring to a 24V bank raises the ceiling to 1,040W per Renogy, but requires rethinking the battery wiring and any 12V loads first.

Is an inverter included?

An inverter is not part of the core configuration listed above. If you need 120V AC output, pair the bank with a pure sine wave unit such as the Renogy REGO 3000W 12V inverter charger, or call us to confirm what is in the current production cartons before you order.

Can the batteries charge in freezing weather?

Like most LiFePO4 batteries, these should not be charged below freezing unless the battery has a low-temperature protection or heating feature. If your site sees hard winters, ask us about self-heating alternatives such as the Core 12V 300Ah self-heating LiFePO4, or keep the bank in a heated enclosure.

Roof mount or ground mount?

Either. On a shed or cabin, a simple ground or wall rack lets you set a steeper winter tilt, which matters at a 400W array size. On an RV, flat roof mounting is typical; expect somewhat less harvest than the tilted estimates.

Can I charge this bank from a vehicle alternator too?

Yes, by adding a DC-DC charger between the starter battery and this bank; the Rover controller handles solar only. Call us and we will spec one for your alternator size.

Why two 100Ah batteries instead of one big one?

Two 12V 100Ah units wired in parallel keep each carton liftable and let you start using the system while adding capacity later. Keep parallel batteries the same model and age.
