Renogy 48V 3500W pure sine wave solar inverter charger

Product Description

The Renogy 48V 3500W Pure Sine Wave Solar Inverter Charger (RIV4835PCS-1SS) combines three components in one wall-mounted unit: a 3,500-watt pure sine wave inverter, an 80A MPPT solar charge controller, and a 40A AC battery charger. If you are building a 48-volt system for a cabin, workshop, bus conversion, or home backup circuit, this one unit replaces a separate inverter, charge controller, and converter and reduces the wiring between them.

Who This Kit Is For

This inverter charger is for people building or upgrading a 48V battery-based system: off-grid cabins that run larger appliances, backup power for essential home circuits, and larger RV or bus conversions where 12V wiring becomes impractical at high wattages. At 48V, a 3,500W load draws roughly 73A from the battery bank instead of the 290A+ it would pull at 12V, which means smaller cables and less heat. It is not compatible with 12V or 24V battery banks (battery input range is 40 to 60 VDC per Renogy), and it does not include panels or batteries, so plan the whole system before ordering.

Key Features

  • 3,500W continuous pure sine wave output with 7,000W surge for starting motor loads, per Renogy
  • Built-in MPPT solar charge controller: up to 4,400W of PV, 150V max input voltage, 60 to 120V MPPT range, up to 80A solar charging, per Renogy
  • 40A AC charger with an 85 to 140 VAC input window; combined solar-plus-AC charging up to 120A (adjustable), per Renogy
  • 10ms typical transfer time between shore/grid power and inverter output, per Renogy
  • Works with 48V lead-acid (AGM, gel, flooded) and lithium battery banks, per Renogy
  • EcoSleep mode cuts idle draw to 25W in power-saving mode (48W standard idle), per Renogy
  • Bluetooth monitoring plus an included remote for status and control

Why Renogy

Renogy has focused on off-grid and mobile power since 2010, and its equipment is widely used in RV, van, cabin, and marine systems across the US. Published spec sheets, manuals, and app-based monitoring make it practical to design, install, and troubleshoot a system yourself, and replacement parts and support are available domestically.

What Will It Run?

Honest sizing matters more than peak numbers. A few worked examples, using conservative assumptions:

  • Simultaneous loads: a refrigerator (about 200W running) + microwave (1,000W) + well pump (about 750W running) + lights and electronics (300W) totals roughly 2,250W, comfortably inside the 3,500W continuous rating. Motor start-up surges are what to watch; the 7,000W surge rating covers most residential pumps and compressors, but check your equipment's locked-rotor amps.
  • Runtime example: with one 48V 50Ah battery (2,560Wh nominal), a steady 500W load runs about 2,560Wh x 0.9 inverter efficiency / 500W = roughly 4.5 hours with no sun. Add batteries in parallel for longer autonomy.
  • Solar recovery: a 3,000W array at 4 peak sun hours with a 25% real-world derate produces roughly 9,000Wh per day (conservative assumption; actual output varies by season, location, and panel orientation).

Frequently Asked Questions

Are batteries or solar panels included?

No. This is the inverter/charger/controller unit only. For the battery bank, a natural pairing is the Renogy Core 48V 50Ah self-heating LiFePO4 battery; add units in parallel to grow storage.

Can I use it with my existing 12V or 24V battery bank?

No. The battery input range is 40 to 60 VDC per Renogy, so it requires a 48V bank. If your system is 12V, look at the Renogy REGO 3000W 12V inverter charger instead.

How much solar can I connect?

Up to 4,400W of PV, per Renogy. Keep the array's cold-weather open-circuit voltage under the 150V input limit and inside the 60 to 120V MPPT range for full harvest. You can start smaller and add panels later up to that ceiling.

Will my computer stay on when grid power drops?

Transfer time is 10ms typical per Renogy, which most desktop electronics ride through. For critical equipment, test your specific gear or keep a small UPS in line.

Can it charge from a generator?

Yes. The AC input accepts 85 to 140 VAC per Renogy and charges at up to 40A while passing power through to your loads. Use a generator with stable output.

Do I need an electrician?

The DC side is manageable for an experienced DIYer, but if the unit will back up household AC circuits, we recommend a licensed electrician and a permit where required by your local code.

Is this the right size, or should I look at a full kit?

If you are earlier in the planning stage, browse our full Renogy collection or call us; we will talk through your loads before you commit to a system voltage.
